Discover a new era in cruising with Royal Caribbean's groundbreaking Icon of the Seas in 2024!

Royal Caribbean's highly anticipated cruise ship, "Icon of the Seas," has made a spectacular entrance into the Caribbean ahead of its inaugural voyage set for January 27, 2024. Recently spotted in Ponce, Puerto Rico, for regulatory inspections and final preparations, the 1,198-foot vessel is gearing up for its maiden seven-day Caribbean adventure.

Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, joyfully shared the ship's early arrival in Ponce on Facebook, marking the beginning of the final preparations before the groundbreaking voyage. The 20-deck marvel, capable of accommodating 5,610 guests and 2,350 crew members, is currently undergoing rigorous checks and loading procedures in anticipation of its historic journey.

Icon of the Seas, handed over to Royal Caribbean in November 2023 after an impressive 900 days of construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland, is poised to offer year-round Eastern or Western Caribbean cruises from Miami. Destinations include St. Maarten, Mexico, St. Thomas, and Royal Caribbean's private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas.

Passengers embarking on Icon of the Seas can look forward to an array of exciting features, including the world's largest waterpark at sea, eight distinct neighborhoods, and an impressive selection of 40 bars and dining options. Unique offerings such as the world's first suspended infinity pool at sea in the Hideaway, Chill Island housing four of the ship's seven pools and an adults-only zone, and Thrill Island featuring a thrilling ropes course and a 154-foot-high swing above the ocean promise an unparalleled cruise experience.

Royal Caribbean Group President and CEO Jason Liberty emphasized the significance of the ship, stating, "Today, we are celebrating more than a new ship; it’s also the celebration of the culmination of more than 50 years of innovation and dreaming at Royal Caribbean to create the ultimate vacation experience."

For those eager to be part of this historic journey, Icon of the Seas is available for booking now. Royal Caribbean reports an "incredible reaction" to the ship, leading to the highest volume booking week in the company's history. Icon of the Seas, surpassing its predecessor Wonder of the Seas in size, is poised to embark on a new era in cruise travel, offering passengers an unmatched combination of innovation, luxury, and adventure on the high seas.
