A Postcard from Adelaide – South Australia

Hello dear friends, today we received a postcard from Adelaide – South Australia! Thank you, Anita!

Nestled between rolling hills and stunning coastline, Adelaide is a vibrant city known for its relaxed lifestyle, world-class wine regions, and thriving arts scene.

Must-See in Adelaide
Adelaide, the charming capital of South Australia, is home to stunning attractions that you won’t want to miss. Start with a visit to Glenelg Beach, where golden sands and clear waters create the perfect spot for a relaxing afternoon. For a dose of culture, head to the Art Gallery of South Australia, showcasing an impressive collection of Indigenous, contemporary, and international art. Nature lovers should explore Adelaide Botanic Garden, a lush oasis filled with exotic plants and picturesque walking paths.

Must-Try in Adelaide
Food lovers will be delighted by Adelaide’s vibrant culinary scene. You can’t leave without tasting a classic pie floater, a delicious meat pie floating in pea soup—a true South Australian specialty. Visit the Adelaide Central Market, one of the largest fresh produce markets in the Southern Hemisphere, to sample local cheeses, fresh seafood, and handcrafted chocolates. And of course, a trip to Adelaide wouldn’t be complete without sipping on world-class wine from the nearby Barossa Valley or McLaren Vale regions.

Must-Experience in Adelaide
For an unforgettable experience, take a day trip to Kangaroo Island, where you can spot native wildlife like sea lions, koalas, and, of course, kangaroos in their natural habitat. If you're a sports fan, catch an AFL game at Adelaide Oval, one of Australia’s most iconic stadiums, offering an electric atmosphere. Finally, if you're visiting in March, don't miss the Adelaide Fringe Festival, the largest open-access arts festival in the Southern Hemisphere, featuring comedy, music, and street performances.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Adelaide is often called the "City of Churches"? While it does have many beautiful historic churches, the nickname actually comes from its reputation for religious freedom and cultural diversity rather than the sheer number of church buildings!
