A Postcard from Brussels, Belgium

Hello, dear friends! Today, we received a beautiful postcard from Brussels, Belgium – thank you, Catherine!

The postcard showcases De Belgische Kust (The Belgian Coast), a stunning stretch of sandy beaches along the North Sea. This 67-kilometer coastline is known for its charming seaside towns, vibrant promenades, and delicious seafood. Popular destinations include Ostend, Knokke-Heist, and De Panne, each offering a unique blend of culture, history, and relaxation.

Fun Fact: The Belgian coast is home to a centuries-old tradition – shrimp fishing on horseback! In Oostduinkerke, skilled fishermen ride strong Brabant horses into the shallow waters to catch grey shrimp using large nets. This unique practice is recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage and remains one of the last of its kind in the world.
